"Your AI is glazing you, bro."
No seriously, it is. It almost certainly has already today. Glazing was on Collins Dictionary's word of the year shortlist - it basically means that thing where your AI is sycophanting you. Agreeing with everything you say, telling you your worst ideas are brilliant, making you feel like a strategic genius when actually you're going round in very articulate, very convincing, completely useless circles.
I spent weeks being glazed by Claude on a real client pitch and didn't notice until I suggested we just write "AI MOVES FAST. YOU NEED US AROUND" in big letters on a slide... and it told me that was "refreshingly direct."
So I went looking for why it happens - and the answer is properly uncomfortable. It's not a bug. The AI is trained to agree with you and you're neurologically wired to love it. Neither side is broken. Both are doing exactly what they were designed to do.
I've made a video about why it happens, but more importantly I found a fix - a critical friend skill based on peer-reviewed research that I'm sharing for free. If AI sycophancy annoys you (like it does me), this is well worth a watch. Link in the comments.
